In 1974, founder, Alfred Mack, came up with the concept of providing quality, name-brand mattresses at a price that the competition could not beat. While every mattress company makes the same claim, Mack Mattress Outlet’s unique approach sets them apart from their competition and makes them the largest dealer of their type in the Midwest.
In 1992, Mack Mattress Outlet was introduced to the concept of trade using the barter system. While the theory of trading goods and services dates back several thousand years, the modern version which uses a company like IMS, was new to Mack Mattress Outlet.
There were only a few hundred members at the time, and the benefits were unclear until they sat down and talked to a representative. The idea of trading mattresses for electrical work, advertising, signs, carpet, etc., without laying out any cash was a huge motivator in their decision to join. Their first big sale was the Christmas show in the IMS warehouse. “We were amazed at how much business we received that day…and we have never looked back”.
Currently Mack Mattress Outlet offers a large quantity of items “full trade”. The price that is on the mattress is the same for cash or trade customers. Recently, Mack Mattress Outlet utilized a large portion of their trade dollars advertising through different media types. This drastically reduced cash outlay and benefited their bottom line. IMS’s facilitation by networking companies together is a great benefit and makes it better for everyone.
