IMS Needs Client Help in Recruitment

Quite often, an IMS client asks us, "is so-and-so a client of IMS?" or tells us, "I know that so-and-so would make a good barter member!" All of us know people whom we would like to see become members of our organization. We need your help to make this happen. You see, our hardest job is to get an appointment with prospective clients. You can help open the door by lending your support to "tell the story" to someone you know.

First, think of who you'd like to see join your trade exchange. All of us know business people who would benefit from barter. Then call and tell them how IMS has benefited you. Then ask them if they would like to hear more about IMS Barter. If they would, just let us know, and we'll make contact with them. It's as simple as that. Before you make the telephone call, here are some suggestions.

  1. Please don't try to sell them on IMS membership. Many of our members think it's easy to sell the concept of bartering. It isn't. You know how IMS works for you, but other companies you're contacting about barter usually operate on a different basis. Every business is unique. Our staff is highly trained to explain how barter can help a business on its particular level. You can help your fellow businessperson by understanding that his or her needs are going to be different from yours. Encourage this person to look into barter and how it can help.
  2. Talk to them about the benefits you've gotten through barter, such as:
    • New customers
    • Added cash flow
    • Reduced cash outlays
  3. Don't push trading for specific items. Remember, your needs are going to be different from other businesses. Our staff can help them understand the products and services they need, which can be bartered.
  4. Be sure to talk about the versatility of your exchange as a business tool. As you know, it's more than just new business. It's also about improving the bottom line, new contacts, increased cash customers, etc. Most of all, emphasize how logical IMS Barter is for business, as well as our 10-year track record of providing the barter tool to hundreds of businesses. Once you've told them how IMS has helped you and hundreds of other area businesses and how we can improve the bottom line, then turn the reference over to us. We promise to follow up on every referral you give us. Best of all, for each referral you give us that joins IMS, you are awarded $50 in trade. It's our way of thanking you for your help. Each new client who joins IMS Barter means another potential customer for you and another source for goods and services. Thus, each new IMS client is a prospect for you. If each client would call us with just one referral, we'd add dozens of opportunities for you. Do your part today. Think, make the call, then let us know. The simple things can make a big difference!
