At 2700’ elevation overlooking the Pacific, a special wild place…This Pinot Noir is really a one off since we have not been able to source this fruit again. It is the same fruit that is in the 2019 Mendocino Ridge Pinot Noir, but made stylistically different. This wine saw 17 months of barrel age and about three years of bottle aging. Elegant, feminine, beautiful and sophisticated.
A medium light ruby in color. The bouquet is perfumed with summer aromas of red raspberries, roses and violets with a hint of spice. Wonderful aromatics. The palate bursts forth with red cherries and raspberries, a mineral edge and a mountain like brushiness. Texturally firm yet giving. Complex and long on the finish. A red fruited rare Pinot Noir wonder. Starting to throw some sediment. Enjoy soon or give it another year or more to see what develops!
Enjoy with lighter meats or poultry dishes, veal or stuffed Guinea hen with mushrooms and herbs.
