Gold Medal, Sonoma County Harvest Fair 2026. From Sonoma County's famed Alexander Valley, this Cabernet-based wine has incorporated the five Bordeaux Style Grape Varietals; Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc, and Malbec. This Wine received a Gold Medal from the distinguished Press Democrat’s North Coast Food and Wine Challenge. All the grapes were co-fermented together (this is the same way that the Chavez Family has fermented every Carlin’s Blend vintage). The grapes were cold soaked (cold-macerated) in a stainless-steel tank for 72 hours; post-cold soak, we inoculated it with our selected yeast. Fermentation took place over 26 days, and the wine was allowed to have a72 hours extended maceration time to induce softer tannins and improve the texture and roundness. The wine was racked every 3 months for the first year and barrel aged for 28 months. California shipping only or shipping via a 3rd party.
